Private Commission for Half Life Size of 'Wounded Faun'
I was privately commissioned in 2016 to produce a half life size version of my life size sculpture 'Wounded Faun'. The bronze cast was completed in late February 2017 in Florence, Italy. The piece will be on display in a private collection (Cahu Collection) in Paris, France.
Geoffrey Rush Bust
In August 2015 I was fortunate enough to produce a bust of Australian actor Geoffrey Rush from which he commissioned a bronze casting for his private collection. The bust took 4 separate sittings in the relaxed environment of Geoffrey's home in Melbourne, and was cast in bronze (with patina) at Coates Foundry by Ewan Coates. At the time Geoffrey had just agreed to play the part of Giacometti in the now released film "Final Portrait" by Stanley Tucci. Sitting for me provided Geoffrey with a unique insight into how a sculptor works, and thus became part of his research into playing Giacometti for the film. You can hear him speak about the film and experience in an interview on ABC Radio with Jon Faine: www.abc.net.au/radio/melbourne/programs/theconversationhour/the-conversation-hour/8806314
'Fulcrum' (2000) - George Tindale Gardens, Mount Dandenong.
This sculpture was commissioned by Parks Victoria in 2000 by public tender, for the George Tindale Gardens in Olinda, Mount Dandenong. The budget was AU$15,000.00. The composition consists of two granite rocks precariously 'stacked', and is in fact kinetic if one knows how to engage with it. The top rock (about 10 tonne of granite), when pushed, silently spins on a thrust bearing supported by a post fixed into the lower rock. It is a hidden element of the sculpture that many viewers will probably never think to search for, but may discover with an inquisitive physical approach.
